Friends of Baildon Moor Print E-mail
Written by Paul Marfell

After two quite well attended meetings hosted by Baildon Parish Council and chaired by Paul Marfell the Friends of Baildon Moor now has a Steering Committee whose purpose is to write the constitution and formulate the membership conditions and rules. The Steering Committee will then hand control over the Friends management committee.

At both meetings the discussion was wide ranging and indicated the variety of interests catered for by the Moors. It was agreed that the objectives of the Friends should be:-

a) to work in collaboration with Bradford Metropolitan District Council and others to promote the conservation, protection and improvement of the physical and natural environment of Baildon Moor.

b) to promote Baildon Moor as an open space amenity of education, recreation and leisure time in the interests of social welfare and with the objective of enhancing the quality of life of those living, working near or visiting Baildon Moor.

However the emphasis was on protection.

Baildon Parish Council were pleased to be able to help The Friends get up and running. The Parish Council wishes them luck and looks forward to working closely with them in the future. Malcolm Leyland (the current Chair) should be congratulated for his efforts in starting things off.

The Friends of Baildon Moor now have their own web site where you can find our more information. www.baildonmoor.org
