ACTION PLAN 2007-8
Section A: Floral Features
1. Encourage more business involvement around the Village Centre
2. Visit Sandal Primary School on the route (2007/8)
3. Roll-out the hanging basket scheme
4. Roll-out the half-barrel scheme
Section B: Permanent Landscaping
1. Consider measures to protect and encourage wildlife at St John’s
2. Involve more young people in this
3. Work on the links with allotments and involve the schools more with them
4. Roll-out the work at Sandal and Glenaire primary schools to grow for the Village Centre
5. Continue the renovation of Towngate Car Park rockery
6. Continue the renovation of Towngate Car Park raised bed
7. Begin the improvement of the gateway to Ferniehurst Dell
8. Redevelop the Hillside Garden
9. Begin the redevelopment of all rose beds
Section C: Sustainability
1. Involve young people more in this
2. Use Hall Cliffe Garden as a resource base for schools
3. Involve schools in community litter-picks
4. Help to improve the nature areas at schools and monitor the upkeep of school playing fields
5. Support of Denso Marsden’s Nature Reserve
6. Support of activities at Brackenhall Countryside Centre
7. Develop a sustainable watering system
8. Roll-out the civic composting scheme and encourage domestic composting
Section D: Local Environmental Quality
1. Deal with the weed problem
2. Treat/Upgrade street furniture in the Village Centre
3. Improve liaison with the Friends of Roberts Park, ensuring that Baildon is well represented and informed about the project
4. Continue to monitor the maintenance of all parkland, woodland and moorland
5. Develop a long term plan and grant application for the improvement of Baildon Mill Pond
6. Roll-out refurbishment of municipal benches
7. Organise regular litter-picking, weeding and sweeping taskforces
Section E: Public Awareness
1. Make greater use of community notice boards to raise the profile, including installation of a Baildon In Bloom notice board
2. Work more with the schools to raise the campaign’s profile
3. Involve the press more
4. Increase resident awareness activities
5. Hold a garden competition
6. Circulate a letter to all public houses
7. Initiate the Baildon In Bloom newsletter
8. Hold a plant-swap event
