Steeton Male Voice Choir - BradfordNightStop PDF Print E-mail
Written by Paul Marfell
It is one week to go until the biggest fundraising and awareness raising event of 2007 for Bradford Nightstop.

Bradford Nightstop have arranged for Steeton Male Voice Choir to perform live at Bradford Cathedral on Saturday 6th October. The concert starts at 7.30pm. Tickets on the door at £5.50 or £3.50 concessions.

As well as this fabulous concert there will be a chance to find out more about the work of our charity including the opportunity to talk to some of our volunteer hosts and telephone contact people as well as some of our Management Committee and staff.

Our charity has operated for 14 years and August 2007 saw the highest ever number of monthly referrals giving us a timely reminder of the urgency to keep youth homelessness raised as a local as well as a national issue.

How can you help?
Can you attend the concert?
Can you forward this email to anyone you think may enjoy listening to this fabulous choir in such a beautiful setting?

If you cannot attend but would like to help us out with a small donation we (  and many young people) would be extremely grateful.

If 50 people attend at £5.50 we can  provide 18 safe nights of accommodation
If a further 50 attend at £3.50  we can provide another 12 safe nights of accommodation

If 100 people attend at £5.50 we could provide 36 safe nights of accommodation etc

However, this is not just about raising much needed funds it is about raising awareness that on a nightly basis there are young people who have no where they feel safe, young people who need help and support to look for longer term accommodation. Leaflets at the event will explain our "Speaker service" whereby a member of staff or a volunteer could come and give a presentation to any interested group.

There will be opportunity to offer to become trained as one of our volunteers.

Please do all you can to support this event

With many grateful thanks
Bev

Baildon Police Call in the Airforce  in the fight against crime !

The Baildon Neighbourhood Policing Team  have called in the Air Training Corps to assist them in achieving a further reduction in the number of domestic burglaries.

Recent weeks have seen four such offences in the Baildon area. This is against the current trend where offences of burglary have been reduced across the Keighley Division this year.

PS Richard Baildon said "People should park their cars in a garage if possible and make sure that they take their car keys upstairs when they go to bed. Don’t leave them in a key cupboard, on a hook, in a coat pocket or in a drawer."

"I know my colleagues are very proud of the reduction in burglaries we have achieved so far this year but as far as we are concerned four is four too many and we are determined to put a stop to this before it becomes a problem. Baildon is a very safe place to live and we intend to kept it that way"

We are taking every possible step to detect the crimes that have occurred but its also important that we help people to help themselves by making them aware of what has happened in the last few days and making sure they take steps to prevent them becoming a victim.
We wanted to make sure we had visited every single house in the area of Upper Baildon and around West Lane to get the message across. We were very pleased that the cadets of No 2458 Squadron Air Training Corps volunteered to help. We were able to achieve our aim in one day.

I'm pleased to report that the operation was well received by local residents there hasn’t been any further offences since .
