The carnival raised over £6,000 last year for local organisations and charities.
This years Carnival is on July 14th. The parade will start from the Ian Clough car park at 1.30pm, with the theme being - Countires of the World.
All local voluntary organisations and charities are welcome to have a stall free. We do charge for any commercial activitiies, and these are closely vetted to ensure that they fit in with our ethos - which is to
- provide fun for the children of Baildon (free entry for U16s)
- provide entertainment for all age groups
- allow local voluntary organisations and charities to raise funds and/or
- awareness of what they have to offer
- raise money for local charities and organisations
Last year the local organisations raised around £4,000 for their good causes, and we as the organising committee raised £2,500. We have made two grants during the year (our first running the event) - £500 to the CofE school when they had their fire, and £500 to Baildon in Bloom.
This means that we now have a fund to ensure the successful future of the carnival, and we intend to distribute ALL the money we make this year to local causes, preferably aimed at the youth of the village. We are particularly keen to provide "seed" money to help people start their own fund raising events.
There are photos of the 2006 Carnival in the Photo Gallery here.

Last week I arrived home, just off West Lane, to find a mother duck and

A quick note to let you know that a group of 9 Guides and 3 Leaders took part in a litter pick on the site of the former Ferniehurst School last night. Although the site is now overgrown, we collected 7 large bags of litter, and a further bin liner full of empty cans for recycling.
