Denis Colman was co-opted on the Parish Council at the July meeting of the Parish Council. Update: the notices were on display for the required time and no requests for an election were received. It is now down to the Parish Council to gather the names and details of interested parties so that someone can be co-opted. It is intended that these people will say something about themselves at the Baildon Parish Council meeting on July 14th. A ballot will then be held which will continue until someone has an outright majority or it is decided no candidate should be co-opted. Eddie Ward who was one of the Councillors for the South East Ward has resigned his position as Councillor at the Parish Council. The Parish Council is required by law to inform you that if 10 electors think that there should be an election to fill this vacancy, an election will be held. There are notices at the library and at the Post Office in Charlestown where electors can sign a form asking that an election be held. The notices stay up for 14 days and are then taken down. If after this time there has been insufficient response for an election the Council may co-opt an interested person to be a councillor.
