Baildon Village Discussion Board

Xmas light switch on - 2009/12/06 00:09 Baildon Parish Council, local businesses and many residents were of the opinion that Baildon should "do" more for Christmas. However these things don't just happen, they take a lot of time, effort and money to get organised. Joanne Crowther, Linda Padwick, Nicola Murray and Paula Taylor have worked hard with the Baildon Business Group and other organisations to start Christmas off properly this year with a Craft Market, Santa and his elves, hot dogs, roast chestnuts and a Robin hunt to help select the person to switch on the lights on Wednesday evening (2/12/2009). Baildon Parish Council contributed several thousand pounds for many of the lights and intend to continue with this so that each year can improve and involve more of Baildon.

What did you think to the evening? Register on this site and post your comments/thoughts to the discussion board. Or send an email to the Parish Council Clerk at clerk@baildon.org.uk. Or pass your comments on to Keith North the Parish Council Warden when you see him out and about.

Re:Xmas light switch on - 2009/12/10 20:28 What a terrific evening it was - so good to see lots of Baildon people coming out for the lights switch-on (which was a bit of an anti-climax!). However, I'm sure if more people can get involved and more local businesses contribute to the cost, perhaps that can be expanded on next year. If we had been asked to contribute we would have been happy to do so. It would have been good to have a larger space for people to congregate away from traffic to watch Father Christmas. Somewhere like the Ian Clough Hall car park would be ideal and perhaps the Hall could be used as well? Just a thought.
