Jenny Lane Playing Field fencing |
|
Written by Jonathan James
|
|
Edit by Paul Marfell - Nov 18 2008
The Diocese of Leeds have now submitted a planning application for
building the fence that is more or less as per their original
application for a certificate - the one that was refused. You can view
this planning application on the Bradford Public Access site here.
Feel free to use the Discussion Board to record your views. The Parish Council would also like to hear from you. You can contact the Clerk, Ruth Batterley, from their web site here.
The paper recently had an article about a proposal by the Church to built a 2m high fence around the playing field on Jenny Lane. I have found the application on the Bradford Council public access web site. You should be able to see the application by following this link.
There has now been another application that can be seen here. The first application for a certificate of lawfulness was refused. The difference now is that the fence along Heygate Lane is to be set back 4m from the wall. This means that 4m of the playing field will be lost.
I notice there is an item in the Discussion Board for this. Perhaps people should comment.
I am rather worried about this and would like to know what could be done about it. This land has been used for years as a playing field and the Baildon Carnival is making use of it again. Who is gaining unlawful access to the field at the moment? Perhaps something else could be done to stop this unlawful behaviour instead of building a fence.

Homer Simpson - Scarecrow Event |
|
Written by percy vear
|
|
Well over 100 Scarecrows descended on Baildon Village on
Saturday 13th September 2008 for “Baildon in Bloom’s 1st
Whacky Scarecrow Walk”.
One of those Scarecrows even came to life, just like real
life Scarecrow “Worzel Gummidge” last seen in 1981 having mysteriously
disappeared one night from “Ten Acre Field”.
The finger of suspicion at the time was pointed at The Crowman, although
local Students from the nearby Village of Scatterbrook during Rag Week have
secretly claimed they know the Truth.
The real life Scarecrow we are talking about that paid a
visit to Baildon was well known Cartoon Character “Homer Simpson”. He was to be found most of the day sitting
in the Hall Cliffe Community Garden with a 4 can pack of Duff Beer for
company. He positioned himself, right
next to Scarecrow Doctor Who & his TARDIS.
Homer was later seen walking around the Village and waving to the many
Scarecrow hunters that followed the White Balloon’s that marked the Whacky
Scarecrow Walk.
